Israel accuses Hamas of hacking soldiers’ phones
There was no comment from Hamas on Israeli allegations
By Abdelraouf Arna'out
JERUSALEM (AA) – Israel said Tuesday that Palestinian group Hamas had attempted to hack phones of Israeli soldiers using fake online accounts.
The army said in a statement it had discovered the Hamas attempts, in cooperation with internal security service Shin Bet.
According to Israeli Channel 12, there were dozens of successful hacking cases by Hamas using fake accounts of young ladies or deceiving soldiers to download a game application which would allow hackers to gain access and control over the device.
There was no comment from Hamas on the Israeli allegations.
It’s not the first time for Israel to accuse Hamas of seeking to hack the phones of its soldiers.
In 2020, the Israeli army said it had uncovered attempts by Hamas operatives to hack smartphones of soldiers.
