Israel gives go-ahead for medical cannabis export
Israeli cannabis producers allowed to export products after acquiring license from Health Ministry
By Mahmoud Barakat
ANKARA (AA) - The Israeli government issued a final approval for the export of locally-grown medical cannabis products.
Outgoing Economy Minister Eli Cohen signed a free export order on Wednesday over one year after the first initial approval.
"This is a significant step for exporters and Israeli industry, which will enable both the expansion of export opportunities for the sector and increase employment of new workers," Cohen said in a statement carried by The Jerusalem Post daily.
Cannabis producers who wish to export their products are yet required to get a license from the Health Ministry to benefit from the free export order which takes effect in 30 days.
Israel has permitted trade of cannabis locally for medical purposes while recreational use remains illegal.
