Israel should stop attacks: Turkish presidential aide

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said on Tuesday that Israel should immediately stop attacks on the Gazan people.

In a tweet from his official account, he said: “The recent attacks have once again demonstrated Israel's unlawful, overbearing and occupying attitude. Israel should immediately stop these attacks against the people of Gaza. The international community must take responsibility and immediate action."

At least 13 Palestinians have been martyred in Israeli attacks in Gaza since Sunday. The Israeli army says the attacks came in response to rocket fire from the blockaded territory.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon responded to Kalin’s tweet in less than two hours, saying: “Dear Mr. Kalin, you may not be aware that Hamas has shot over 400 rockets against Israeli civilians and that ours is legitimate self defense…”

Kalin responded: “Mr Nahshon, I am very well aware of the fact that the Palestinian lands are Israeli occupation. But the occupier develops special skills not to see the occupation and cover it up, right?”
