Israel warns citizens against overseas trips over Iran, terrorist threat

'Iran, its affiliates increasing activities abroad with the aim of harming Israelis,' says Israeli security agency

By Abdelraouf Arna'out

JERUSALEM (AA) – Israeli authorities on Monday warned citizens against traveling abroad during the upcoming Jewish holidays, citing risk of potential attacks by Iran and the Daesh/ISIS terrorist group.

“In the last two years, Iran and its affiliates have been increasing their activities abroad with the aim of harming Israelis,” the counterterrorism division of the Israeli premier’s office said in an advisory.

Multiple Iranian attempts “to harm Israelis in other countries” were thwarted in 2021 and 2022, it added.

With the holidays set to start this week and run until mid-October, the agency warned that Tehran will continue to attack “Israeli targets around the world, both in countries near Iran and in countries in the West and Europe.”

The statement also cited a threat of attacks by Daesh/ISIS and other terrorist groups.

It, however, did not name any countries that Israeli citizens should specifically avoid.

Tel Aviv has repeatedly voiced fears of retaliation for the deaths of Iranians that Tehran blames on Israel.

This June, Israeli officials said Turkish intelligence helped them foil an Iranian plot to attack Israeli targets in Türkiye.
