Israeli airstrikes wound 2 Syrian regime soldiers

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Syrian regime said Monday that two army personnel were wounded in Israeli airstrikes on military locations in central and western Syria.

"At approximately 19:16 Monday evening [0516GMT], the Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression from the direction north of Beirut, targeting some points in the central and coastal regions," the state-run SANA news agency quoted an unnamed military source as saying.

The source added that "our air defense systems fought back and downed most of the [Israeli] missiles," adding the "Israeli aggression resulted in the wounding of two soldiers and the infliction of some material losses.”

The Israeli army is yet to comment on the incidents.

During the last four years, regime-controlled areas have been subjected to frequent Israeli bombardment targeting sites used by regime forces as well as military bases used by Iran and the militias it backs.
