Israeli army arrests Fatah member, lawyer in West Bank

RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) - The Israeli army on Wednesday arrested Zakaria Zubaidi, a member of the Fatah movement’s Revolutionary Council, and Tariq Barghout, a lawyer for the PLO-run Commission for Detainees’ and ex-Detainees’ Affairs.

According to Palestine’s WAFA news agency, Israeli forces detained Zubaidi and Barghout from their respective homes in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Early Wednesday morning, Israeli troops raided several districts of central Ramallah, triggering clashes with Palestinian youths.

In a statement, the Palestinian Red Crescent said its medical staff had treated dozens of children at a local kindergarten who had suffered the effects of excessive teargas fired by Israeli troops.

“All the children were treated at the scene,” the statement read, going on to assert that Israeli troops had prevented emergency responders from reaching the scene for almost 30 minutes.
