Israeli army raids Nablus amid reports of gunfire
Gunfire heard in Nablus’ old town
By Qais Abu Samra
NABLUS, Palestine (AA) – Israeli army forces stormed the West Bank city of Nablus on Thursday amid reports of gunfire, according to eyewitnesses.
Witnesses said Israeli forces pushed into the city from several entrances. Gunfire was heard in the old town of Nablus.
There were no reports yet of injuries.
Israeli forces have repeatedly carried out raids into Nablus in search of members of an armed group known as the Lions’ Den, which emerged in the occupied West Bank last year.
Israel blames the Lions’ Den group for attacks on Israeli targets, including the death of an Israeli soldier in October last year.
Earlier Thursday, a Palestinian was killed by Israeli army fire during a military raid in the Balata refugee camp, north of East Jerusalem.
