Israeli army raids W. Bank homes in hunt for shooter

- One Israeli settler was killed in a shooting attack in West Bank on Sunday

SALFIT, Palestine (AA) – Israeli forces raided several homes in the West Bank city of Salfit on Monday as part of a manhunt for a Palestinian suspected of killing a settler a day earlier.

A military force stormed the towns of Biddya and al-Zawiya and searched several homes in the area, local residents said.

Israeli soldiers also detonated the doors of several shops in the area as part of their search campaign, they said.

The raid came one day after an Israeli settler was killed and two others were injured in a shooting attack in the West Bank on Sunday.

The Israeli military has yet to issue an official statement on the raid.

Tension has mounted in the Palestinian territories since last month when Israeli police briefly sealed the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque's Rahma Gate in East Jerusalem, sparking angry Palestinian demonstrations.
