Israeli drone targets Hezbollah operatives in Syria: source

BEIRUT, Lebanon (AA) An Israeli drone targeted a vehicle carrying members for the Lebanese Hezbollah group near the Lebanese-Syrian borders, a Hizbollah source said.

The Hezbollah source who spoke to Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity said that four Hezbollah members were in the vehicle on their way to Lebanon from Syria.

He said that the Hezbollah group detected an Israeli drone in Wadi al-Qarn area over Syria.

He added that the vehicle was hit and destroyed in Jdaidit Yabws area of Syria.

The source confirmed that all who were in survived the attack by fleeing before the missile hit the vehicle.

Tension has been running high along Syrian-Israeli border amid Israeli accusations for Iran and Hezbollah group of building up a military presence in war-torn Syria.

Iran and Hezbollah are strong allies of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad regime, the forces of which have been fighting opposition groups in a deadly civil war since 2011.

Since then, hundreds of thousands of people were killed and millions more displaced by the conflict.
