Israeli Premier Netanyahu ‘doing well’ after being hospitalized

JERUSALEM (AA) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is “doing well” after being hospitalized on Saturday.

Netanyahu thanked the public for their concern in a video message on Twitter and said he spent time in the sun without a hat and water and got sick as a result.

He requested the public to “spend less time in the sun, drink more water” as the country is experiencing a severe heatwave.

The Prime Minister’s Office also said that Netanyahu is doing well and he fell ill due to dehydration.

According to the Times of Israel, the weekly cabinet meeting for Sunday has been moved to Monday.

Netanyahu on Saturday was shifted to the emergency room at Sheba Hospital in central Israel after he reportedly felt unwell, according to local media.

“His condition is good and he is undergoing medical tests,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a brief statement, according to the daily Times of Israel.

According to the Jerusalem Post newspaper, Netanyahu was brought to the emergency room after “briefly losing consciousness while at home in Caesarea in northern Israel.”

Netanyahu was “fully conscious upon arrival at the hospital.”

Netanyahu, 73, has served as prime minister in Israel at intermittent periods for more than 14 years.
