Israeli soldier injured in West Bank shooting

Tension has been running high across West Bank in recent weeks

JERUSALEM (AA) – An Israeli soldier was wounded on Tuesday in a drive-by shooting in the occupied West Bank, according to local media.

Israeli Channel 12 said the attack took place near the settlement of Shavei Shomron in the northern West Bank.

Israeli Army Radio said the soldier was in a serious condition, without providing any further details.

The attack was claimed by a Palestinian group calling itself “Lions’ Den”.

Tension has been running high across the West Bank in recent weeks amid daily Israeli military raids in the occupied territory during which dozens of Palestinians were killed.

According to Palestinian figures, more than 115 Palestinians have been killed and hundreds injured by Israeli army fire in the West Bank this year.
