Istanbul's Fener Greek Orthodox patriarch tests positive for COVID-19

Fully vaccinated Patriarch Bartholomew’s general health is good despite mild symptoms, says patriarchate

ANKARA (AA) - The Fener Greek Orthodox patriarch in Istanbul has tested positive for COVID-19, the patriarchate announced on Friday.

Patriarch Bartholomew, 81, who is fully vaccinated, is currently showing mild symptoms but his general health remains good, said the patriarchate in a statement.

The statement added that after being diagnosed, Bartholomew immediately visited a hospital.

Thanking all those who expressed interest in his health, Bartholomew urged everyone to follow the recommendation of doctors and experts for their own good and for society as a whole, the statement added.
