KIGALI, Rwanda (AA) - Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara announced a new Cabinet Wednesday, a day after naming his vice president and reappointing the prime minister.

The 32-member Cabinet proposed by Prime Minister Patrick Jerome Achi features two new entrants, according to a government communiqué.

It is a leaner Cabinet compared to the 41 members in the previous government.

The two new incoming ministers are Mines, Petroleum and Energy Minister Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, who replaced Thomas Camara, and Minister of Culture and Francophonie Françoise Remarck, who replaced Harlette Badou N'guessan Kouame.

Kandia Kamissoko Camara was named Minister of Foreign Affairs while Tene Birahima Ouattara was named Minister of Defense.

Adama Coulibaly was appointed Minister of Economy and Finance, while Moussa Sanogo was named Minister of Budget and State Portfolio.

The previous government resigned on April 13.

Unveiling the Cabinet at a press conference in the capital Abidjan, the Secretary General of the Presidency, Abdourahmane Cisse, said the first Cabinet meeting of the new government is due on Thursday at the presidential palace.

Ouattara, who reappointed Patrick Achi as the country’s prime minister earlier Tuesday, previously committed to reorganize a tighter government with budget cuts in response to international strains.

He had named his new vice president on the same day, Tiemoko Meyliet Kone, a former minister and governor of the Central Bank of West African States, filling a position which had been left vacant for two years.
