Jewish settler faces manslaughter charge for car death
Teenage settler charged with throwing stone that resulted in death of 45-year-old Palestinian woman
JERUSALEM (AA) - A 16-year-old Jewish settler suspected of throwing a stone at a car -- causing the death of a 45-year-old Palestinian woman -- has been charged with manslaughter, Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported on Thursday.
According to the indictment, Mateh Binyamin, a 16-year-old Israeli from the Mateh Binyamin settlement, threw a rock at the car of Aisha al-Rwabi, which bore Palestinian license plates, “out of an ideological motive of racism and hostility towards all Arabs”.
“He threw the stone with great force at the vehicle’s windshield with the objective of hurting the passengers, indifferent to the possibility of causing their death,” the indictment read.
“The rock hit the… windshield, shattered it, penetrated the glass, and hit Aisha's head with great force,” it added. “As a result, she suffered a fatal head injury.”
Aisha al-Rwabi, 45, was killed last October when Jewish settlers pelted her vehicle with stones as it passed through the occupied West Bank city of Nablus.
