The tunnel’s entrance is 10-15 meters below ground and stretches out 420 meters long. The tunnel goes all the way to connect the ancient cities of the Jordanian Decapolis, a group of 10 settlements from the Hellenistic Era, following the death of Alexander the Great.

Located in the far northwest of Jordan, along the borders of Syria and Israel, Umm Qais is an ancient Roman town, also home to the ancient ruins of the Greek city of Gadara.
