NAIROBI, Kenya (AA) - Police on Sunday denied allegations officers killed 24 people in post-election violence as alleged by the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights.

Spokesman George Kinoti also refuted claims by the opposition that police were killing citizens and hiding them in body bags.

“We are aware of only six fatalities in which criminals, armed and acting with deadly intent, attacked police officers attempting to affect arrest resulting in fatal neutralization of the attackers,” Kinoti said.

But an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter in Nairobi witnessed a stray bullet from police kill a 9-year-old who was watching protesters engaged with police.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga visited the family of the young victim Sunday and rejected the results of the Aug. 8 general elections. He said the government used the credentials of slain IT manager, Chris Msando, to rig the polls in favor of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

”They stole our votes, now they are killing us, yesterday we witnessed how … just like animals they are, they killed so many of us, what happened yesterday here in Kibera slums and Kisumu we prophesized three weeks ago when we showed proof that they were going to kill our people,” Odinga told supporters in Nairobi's famous Kibera slums as spoke publicly for the first time since the elections. “I urge all of our supporters not to go to work on Monday and to wait for further instructions on Monday, Uhuru must go home”.

Odinga lauded the international media for reporting the real facts affecting Kenya and criticized local media for hiding the violence that has rocked Kenya the vote last week.
