Koreas: Seoul proposes 3-way talks with US, North

South Korea's president insists on resumption of dialogue between US, North Korea

By Riyaz ul Khaliq

ANKARA (AA) - Following a failed summit meeting in Vietnam between the U.S. and North Korean leaders, South Korea on Monday proposed three-way talks to resume the dialogue to devise a deal to denuclearize the Korean peninsula.

According to Yonhap news agency, Seoul's top diplomat, Kang Kyung-wha, said his country will seek joint talks with the U.S. and North Korea "to create a venue for the resumption of North Korea-U.S. dialogue".

Her remarks came after a meeting of the South's National Security Council, chaired by President Moon Jae-in.

"I believe the North Korea-U.S. negotiations will reach an agreement in the end, but I ask you to work for an early resumption of working-level dialogue between the two because we do not want the stalemate to be prolonged," Yonhap quoted President Moon as telling his top national security aides during the meeting.
