Kosovo halts YPG/PKK terror group propaganda

Prosecutor's office orders end to ‘Kurdish Music Night’ propaganda

By Talha Ozturk

BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - The Kosovo Security Directorate on Saturday stopped the YPG/PKK terrorist group from holding a propaganda event in Kosovar capital Pristina.

Following an announcement made by the social media account of the "Sabota Social Center", which planned to propagate the propaganda of YPG/PKK terrorist organization under the guise of a "Kurdish Music Night", the prosecutor's office ordered a halt to any such activity.

A group of young Kosovans were also detained after a gathering to protest against the measure.

The association had previously made social media campaigns against the Turkish Armed Forces’ (TSK) ongoing operation in Afrin region of northern Syria.

Turkey on Jan. 20 launched Operation Olive Branch to remove PYD/PKK and Daesh terrorists from Afrin.

According to Turkish General Staff, the operation aims to establish security and stability along Turkish borders and the region as well as to protect the Syrian people from the oppression and cruelty of terrorists.

Kosovo Minister of Public Administration Mahir Yagcilar condemned the provocation and urged people to avoid activities that would damage Kosovo's image and the country's relations with Turkey.

"Displaying this kind of behavior against Kosovo's true and indifferent friend Turkey is baseless and meaningless. In fact, it is to the detrimental to Kosovo.

“We know that there are various terror and provocations against Turkey's stability and integrity while there should be activities to support Turkey," Yagcilar said in his written statement.

"We are against any kind of activity that legitimizes terrorist acts."

Democratic Turkish Party of Kosovo (KDTP) deputy Fikrim Damka told Anadolu Agency institutions in the country were focusing on this incident.

"It has to be learnt whether this association is registered with the Ministry of Public Administration or not, and if such a situation exists, it must be abolished and closed down," said Damka.
