ANKARA (AA) - Kuwait’s Embassy in Turkey on Tuesday marked the nation’s 58th national day and 28th anniversary of its liberation with a ceremony in the capital Ankara with the attendance of Turkish officials and foreign diplomats.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Kuwaiti Ambassador in Ankara Ghassan Yousuf al-Zawawi said that in the 1960s Kuwait took a peaceful investment policy in strategic fields.

Speaking about in investing in Turkey, al-Zawawi said that Kuwait is interested in investing in many fields, including the energy sector.

He went on to say that Kuwait expects Turkey to "accelerate investment" and ease legal procedures.

"We expect all transactions to be carried out in one place, one-stop, one-shop policy," he said.

"Investors should be able to carry out transactions from a single point rather than … traveling to different stops to deal with more than one structure," he said, adding that this would attract more investments.

Al-Zawawi stressed that three big Turkish contractors have done billions of dollars in business in Kuwait, adding that Turkish investors are extended tax facilities and consultancy through Kuwait’s investment agency.

The event was attended by Turkish Education Minister Ziya Selcuk, Commerce Minister Ruhsar Pekcan, Defense Industry Undersecretary Ismail Demir, and Felicity (Saadet) Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoglu.

On June 19, 1961, the independence of the State of Kuwait was declared during the reign of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, who first took power in 1950. He changed Independence Day to Feb. 25, the date of his accession to power, which also coincides with the liberation from the Iraqi invasion in 1991.
