Kyrgyzstan's president calls for continued humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

China contributes to development, security in Central Asia, Sadyr Japarov tells regional leaders

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan (AA) - Kyrgyzstan's president said on Tuesday that humanitarian aid to people in Afghanistan should keep flowing.

Speaking at a virtual meeting held on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Central Asian countries, Sadyr Japarov called for common efforts to establish lasting peace in Afghanistan and deliver humanitarian relief to Afghans.

The president further noted that the large infrastructure projects conducted with Chinese help in transportation, energy, health, irrigation, and education were of great importance for the country's prosperity.

He said Beijing provided all possible assistance for the socioeconomic development of Central Asian countries and made great efforts to strengthen regional security.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also attended the virtual summit.
