ANKARA (AA) - Liverpool drew 2-2 with Manchester City on Sunday in one of the weekend’s most hotly anticipated English Premier League matches.

City's Kevin De Bruyne scored a late equalizer to cancel out Liverpool star Mohamed Salah's classy solo goal.

The first half at Liverpool's Anfield Stadium ended 0-0, but fans at the venue witnessed four goals over the next 45 minutes.

Liverpool scored the opener in the 59th minute as Senegalese forward Sadio Mane netted on a counter attack assisted by Salah.

It was Mane's 99th Premier League goal.

But Man City pulled level in the 69th minute as English midfielder Phil Foden scored on a narrow angle in the Reds' area.

Egyptian star Salah rapidly dribbled past several City players as his spectacular run resulted in a brilliant Liverpool goal at a tight angle in the 76th minute.

Five minutes later, Belgian midfielder De Bruyne's left-footed strike meant an equalizer for City, scoring from the edge of the Liverpool box.

Both clubs gave their full effort on the pitch but points were shared after the four-goal thriller at Anfield.

Second-place Liverpool have 15 points in seven matches in the Premier League topped by Chelsea, who have racked up 16 points.

Manchester City are now in third place with 14 points.

The three clubs are not alone in the Premier League's title race with Manchester United, Everton and Brighton & Hove Albion in the running.

Like Manchester City, Manchester United, Everton and Brighton have 14 points each.
