Main opposition pledges 'clean, ethical politics' in Turkey

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's main opposition leader on Tuesday vowed to build "clean and ethical politics" in the country.

Speaking at the parliamentary group of the Republican People's Party's (CHP), Kemal Kilicdaroglu pledged that they would take Turkey out of "swamp."

"We will bring clean, ethical politics to this country. We will bring back the culture of solidarity," he said.

Kilicdaroglu also said that everybody, regardless of their political opinions, will be able to discuss the national issues if the CHP comes to power.

"No one should look at others as an enemy. Different opinions and political understandings should not be a matter of conflict but of wealth," he said.

"We will get Turkey out of this swamp. Everyone needs to be assured," he added.

The main opposition leader said that they would solve Turkey's issues via democratic means.

"How will we solve them? With election. We will solve the country's issues with early elections," he asserted.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan repeatedly dismissed the opposition’s demand for early elections, saying the elections will be held on schedule in June 2023.
