Major US firms announce Q3 results
Revenues up at Yahoo, Intel, Goldman Sachs

NEW YORK (AA) – Three more major American firms announced third quarter results Tuesday.
Intel saw its revenues climb to $15.8 billion. That is up 8.9 percent from $14.5 billion the same time a year ago.
The company’s net income rose 9.7 percent to 3.4 billion in the July-September period, from $3.1 billion.
Despite strong results, the company expects sales of chips to decline in the fourth quarter.
The dim outlook pushed down Intel’s stocks 5.9 percent to $35.51 in after-hours trading.
Facing a buyout by telecommunications giant Verizon, Yahoo saw its shares increase 1.5 percent to $42.32 in after-hours trading following the release of its quarterly report.
Its net income jumped 113 percent to $162.8 million, from $76.3 million.
Yahoo's revenue, however, fell 14 percent to $857.7 million, from $1 billion.
Goldman Sachs had a strong third quarter with revenues up 19 percent to $8.17 billion, from $6.86 billion.
Net income was also up, 46 percent to $2.09 billion, from $1.43 billion.s
Goldman Sachs' stocks rose to as high as 2.6 percent to $173.47 before the final bell on Wall Street.
