ANKARA (AA) - A Malaysian school is preparing to include the Turkish archery to its curriculum, head of Turkey's Yunus Emre Institute (YEE) said.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Prof. Seref Ates said a Malaysian school approached YEE to include the sports in its curriculum.

"There is a proposal from Malaysia to include Turkish archery in a school. We are working on it and there will be lessons on Turkish archery," he said.

"This kind of institutional cooperation will be instrumental to create a positive perception of Turkey. We have told Malaysian officials that we will lend serious support to the proposal,” he added.

Turkey's Archers Foundation and the YEE offered archery courses under the Kemankes project in 16 countries across the world in November 2017 to introduce the national sports abroad.

A total of 36 hours of basic training were given to 550 courses at the YEE in Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Morocco, Palestine, Iran, Japan, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Lebanon, Malaysia, Egypt, Poland, Serbia, Sudan and Jordan.

In Malaysia, the courses attracted a school, which decided to include the sports to its curriculum.
