Manchester United secure vital 2-1 Premier League win against Liverpool

ANKARA (AA) - Manchester United earned a crucial 2-1 English Premier League win against Liverpool on Monday.

Man U pressured the Reds from the start of the match.

But the Red Devils were unlucky as their winger Anthony Elanga hit the right bottom post in the ninth minute at Old Trafford.

United saw the result of their hard work soon after, however, as Jadon Sancho's calmly placed shot marked their first goal in the 16th minute and the first half ended 1-0.

Manchester fans were relieved after Marcus Rashford netted their second goal in the 54th minute and widened the gap.

Liverpool goalie Alisson Becker denied another well-placed shot by Rashford two minutes later, which would have been Man U’s third goal.

After the Manchester club missed several goal chances, Liverpool's Egyptian star Mohamed Salah took one back in the 81st minute.

The Red Devils ended their nightmare two-match winless streak with a 2-1 victory against their rivals.

Manchester United placed 14th with three points while Liverpool lay in 16th spot with two points in the league standings.
