California Democrat Congresswoman Maxine Waters found an unpleasant surprise waiting for her outside her home last Thursday morning. A less-than-flattering poster depicting Waters with red eyes and emblazoned with the phrase “Maxine Waters: Poverty Pimp” had been erected on her lawn. The words “Niggas better have my money!” were repeated across the background of the sign.

No one knows as of yet who created and distributed these posters; but they have been seen plastered all over California’s 43rd district, which she has represented since 1991. This area encompasses a large portion of South Central Los Angeles including Westchester, Playa Del Rey, Watts, the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, and the cities of Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lomita, and Torrance.

Waters is one of the most liberal members of Congress and has openly discussed her strong socialist leanings and her support for Islamic Sharia law. Some claim that she tries to “keep her constituents poor and dependent on government assistance to secure her power base.”

Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson and others began taking down the posters Sunday, saying, “We’re highly offended, we’re disgusted by it.” They are demanding a “fast track investigation” by the California Fair Political Practices Commission to find out who created and distributed the posters.

There has been no indication that Waters’ opponent, John Wood, Jr., had anything to do with the public display. Wood released a statement in response to the incident:
