Mexican COVID-19 death toll rises to 1,732
163 new deaths recorded in last 24 hours, while diagnosed cases near 18,000

ANKARA (AA) - The death toll from the coronavirus in Mexico climbed to 1,732 as 163 more patients lost their lives in the past 24 hours, the country’s health minister said Thursday.
Mexico confirmed 1,047 new cases, bringing the total number to 17,799.
President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador offered condolences to the families of the deceased patients.
Mexico reported its first case Feb. 28 and initial death March 19.
After originating in China last December, COVID-19 has spread to at least 187 countries and regions. Europe and the US are currently the worst-hit regions.
The pandemic has killed over 230,000 worldwide, with more than 3.2 million infections, while recoveries have exceeded 1 million, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
