RABAT, Morocco (AA) – Moroccan security forces have dismantled a suspected Daesh “cell”, the interior ministry said Friday.
In a statement, the ministry said five people had been detained for suspected links to the notorious terrorist group.
The suspects, whose ages range from 21 to 36, had been active in Morocco’s coastal city of Safi, according to the statement.
The suspects had reportedly been preparing “to carry out the terrorist group’s subversive agenda with a view to undermining the kingdom’s security and stability”.
According to official figures released late last year, the Moroccan authorities have dismantled more than 180 terrorist cells since 2002.
