ISTANBUL (AA) - The Moscow mayor on Saturday warned residents to stay at home as rebel mercenary vehicles were seen on the road to Russia's capital.

Sergey Sobyanin urged residents to refrain from traveling around the city as much as possible and to report emergency situations and incidents in a timely manner.

The mayor said city services are on high alert, adding that it is possible to block traffic in Moscow in certain roads.

Sobyanin also declared Monday a non-working day, adding this does not apply to authorities and enterprises of a continuous cycle, the military-industrial complex, and urban services.

Putin accused Wagner head Yevgeny Prigozhin of treason in a national address on Saturday, after the paramilitary fighters crossed the border from Ukraine into Russia, entering the city of Rostov-on-Don.

Prigozhin accused Russian forces of attacking his fighters, a claim Moscow denies.

Prigozhin has, in recent months, repeatedly accused the Russian Defense Ministry and Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu of not supplying sufficient arms to the paramilitary group which has been fighting alongside the Russian army in Ukraine.
