Most Asian stock markets down at Tuesday's close

Apart from Indian Sensex, all major Asian indices end day with losses

ISTANBUL (AA) – Most major stock exchanges in Asia were in negative territory at Tuesday’s close.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, dropped by 43 points, or 1.31%, to 3,231.57.

Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 stock exchange plunged by 341.75 points, or 1.19%, to 28,452.75.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, fell by 153.73 points, or 0.78%, to 19,503.25.

China’s Shanghai Stock Exchange shed 1.57 points, or 0.05%, to close at 3,276.22.

The Singapore index was down by 16.36 points, or 0.5%, to finish at 3,246.21.

The Indian Sensex benchmark was the only exchange in positive territory, gaining 257.43 points, or 0.44%, to end the day at 59,031.30.
