ANKARA (AA) - Italian football side SSC Napoli defeated AC Milan and climbed to the second spot of Serie A in week 18, while Inter hammered Salernitana 5-0.
Napoli grabbed a vital 1-0 away win against AC Milan at the San Siro Stadium on Sunday.
An early goal in the fifth minute by midfielder Eljif Elmas, a former player for Turkish team Fenerbahce, brought the victory to Napoli.
With this result, Napoli racked up a total of 39 points and was ahead with a goal difference, while AC Milan is in 3rd in the Serie A standings with same points.
- Inter made victory look easy in away game
Serie A leaders Inter Milan hammered Salernitana 5-0 in an away game on Sunday.
The goals of Nerazzurri were scored by Ivan Perisic, Denzel Dumfries, Alexis Sanchez, Laurato Martinez, and Roberto Gagliardini at Arechi Stadium.
Turkish midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu assisted his teammates twice, contributing to the victory.
Inter was eight points behind the leaders in the 12th week, but are now leading Serie A with 43 points, while Salernitana is at the bottom of the table with eight points.
- Vlahovic make history, shares Cristiano Ronaldo's record
Fiorentina's Serbian forward Dusan Vlahovic made history on Sunday in a Serie A week 18 game against Sassuolo, which ended 2-2.
Vlahovic scored once in the game and made history as he now shares record of most goals scored by a player in Serie A in a year, which had previously belonged solely to Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo with 33 goals.
If the 21-year-old scores any goals against Verona on Dec. 22 -- the last game of the year -- he will claim the record alone.
Vlahovic joined Fiorentina in 2018 and scored 47 goals, making six assists in 104 games for the Italian team.
