NBA: Booker scores 50, Suns lose again

Booker becomes youngest in NBA history to score back-to-back 50+ points

ANKARA (AA) - Phoenix Suns' young star Devin Booker scored 50 points against Washington Wizards on Wednesday evening and became the youngest player in NBA history to record consecutive 50+ point games.

Losing to Wizards 124-121, Booker -- (22 years 148 days old) scored 50 points, grabbed 10 rebounds but was unable prevent his team from losing for the 59th time this season.

Wizards earned the away victory as Jabari Parker produced 28 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, Bradley Beal also scored 28 points.

Booker, on Tuesday, went on another scoring surge as he dropped 59 points against Utah Jazz, which resulted in a 33-point loss, 125-92.

Booker shot 19/34 from the field, while his teammates only scored a total of 33 points on 12/42 shooting.


- Playoffs on horizon

So far, five teams in the Eastern Conference and five teams in the Western Conference have clinched the playoffs.

In the West, reigning champs Golden State Warriors, Denver Nuggets, Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers all booked their places in the playoffs.

Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs are almost in the playoffs, as the only playoff-chasing team remained apart from those is Sacramento Kings, who are currently in the 9th spot with 37 wins and 37 losses.

In the East, Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers, Indiana Pacers and Boston Celtics secured a playoff spot.

Brooklyn Nets, Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic are currently ranked at 6th, 7th and 8th spots; while Miami Heat and Charlotte Hornets are close contenders to get into the playoffs.


- LeBron James to miss playoffs

Los Angeles Lakers upset their fans as the Western Conference team will not be in this year's NBA playoffs.

The Lakers are currently in 11th spot in Western Conference with a losing record of 33-42 and are out of the playoff race.

It will be LeBron James' first time without a post season schedule since 2005, as the four-time league MVP's eight-year run to the NBA Finals was snapped this year.
