Nearly 25,000 drug pills seized at Istanbul airport
Afghan passenger from Amsterdam was carrying pills packed in 2 suitcases

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish customs security forces seized 24,800 opiate pills in an operation at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport, the Trade Ministry said on Tuesday.
According to a statement, the drug pills with a net weight of 6.2 kilograms (13.6 pounds) were found in two suitcases of a passenger who came from Amsterdam and was headed to Kabul, Afghanistan via transit from Istanbul.
It is estimated that the market value of the seized pills equals 1 million Turkish liras ($192,000).
The passenger has been arrested by security forces.
