New school year to kick off in Türkiye on Monday

Millions of students, teachers set for return to secondary, high schools

ANKARA (AA) – Nearly 19 million students and 1.2 million teachers in primary and secondary education institutions will start the 2022-2023 academic year in Türkiye on Monday.

While orientations for preschool and primary school students kicked off on Sep. 5, they will begin in secondary and high schools from Monday and run until Sep. 16.

As part of preparations, the National Education Ministry has delivered 136 million auxiliary resources, as well as free textbooks, across the country.

The first break of the new academic year will be on Nov. 14-18, followed by a semester break from Jan. 23-Feb. 3, 2023 and a holiday from April 17-20.

The academic year will end on June 16 next year.
