WASHINGTON (AA) - New York City Mayor Eric Adams hosted an iftar dinner Wednesday for representatives of the city’s Muslim community.
"#Ramadan Mubarak! Thank you to our city's Muslim community for coming together for tonight's #Iftar," Adams said in a tweet with pictures from the event.
The iftar was held at Brooklyn Borough Hall.
"Wishing all Muslim-Americans across the borough a blessed and healthy breaking of the #Ramadan. May the future bring plenty of happiness and good fortune to all," Adams said in another tweet.
The event, co-sponsored by a Turkish-American firm, Vintage Food Corporation, was attended by nearly 200 people. Food was reportedly prepared by a Turkish restaurant.
Iftar is the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily fast at sunset during the holy month of Ramadan.
