ISTANBUL (AA) - The threat of a blizzard barreling down on New York City pushed Turkey's flag carrier Turkish Airlines (THY) to cancel flights to the Big Apple on Tuesday and Wednesday, said the airline’s website.
According to Turkish airlines, four round-trip flights have been cancelled due to the predicted snowstorm on the U.S. east coast.
The airline said passengers could contact them at +90-212-444-0849 or thy.com online for more details.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service, New York City may get up to 43 centimeters of snow, and a blizzard warning is in effect for much of the metro area.
Officials declared a state of emergency in New York City at midnight Monday.
The looming late-winter blow follows a storm on the east coast at the end of January which affected up to 85 million people. States of emergency were declared in 11 states as well as in the nation's capital.
