Niger: 80 civil servants sacked for fraud

ANKARA (AA) - The Niger State Government sacked 80 civil servants because of corruption-related accusations, local media reported Thursday.

Those dismissed reportedly placed themselves on wages above their current status and entitlement, State Head of Service Hajiya Salamatu Abubakar said at a news conference in Minna, The Guardian reported.

The decision to dismiss was approved by the State Executive Council at a meeting Thursday.

Officers removed were from the Health and Education Ministries, the Hospital Services and Management Board and the Primary Health Care Development Agency, said Abubakar.

Others were let go from the School of Health Technology, High Court and Sharia Court, and the School of Midwifery.
