Nigeria kills 7 top Boko Haram commanders: Army
They were killed during fierce battle with Nigerian forces around Lake Chad Region, says military spokesman

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AA) - Nigerian forces say they have killed seven top Boko Haram commanders in a fierce battle around the Lake Chad region.
Col. Sagir Musa, an army spokesman, said the commanders were killed by counter-terrorism troops in an offensive against the group.
He said the combined efforts of "artillery and air bombardments" of terrorists' hideouts in the Lake Chad region, led to the killing of the commanders.
