WASHINGTON (AA) - The Pentagon on Tuesday welcomed that there have been no attacks recently on US forces in Iraq and Syria.

"There have been no attacks since Feb. 4 on our troops in Iraq or Syria," Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh told reporters.

Stressing that it is a "good thing," she added: "We don't want to see any further attacks in Iraq and Syria, or in Jordan, where our forces are there to continue their mission, which is to ensure the enduring defeat of ISIS."

The Daesh/ISIS terrorist group is not the same threat in Iraq and Syria as it was 10 years ago, Singh said, adding: "but they still remain a presence within the region."

The Pentagon announced Monday that there have been approximately 186 US casualties in Iraq, Syria and Jordan since Oct. 18.

Since the Israeli army launched intensified attacks on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7 last year following a cross-border incursion by the Palestinian group Hamas, US military bases in Syria and Iraq have been targeted with drones and rockets, particularly Al Tanf Garrison in Syria as well as bases in the city of Al-Malikiyah near the Iraqi border, the city of Al-Shaddadi in Al-Hasakah Governorate and Deir ez-Zor province.

Last month, a suicide drone attack also killed three US soldiers and wounded at least 34 others at Tower 22, a remote military installation in Jordan near the Syrian and Iraqi borders.
