HATAY, Turkey (AA) – The number of injured people who have received treatment in Turkey after evacuation from the war-torn Syrian city of Aleppo has risen to 507, according to a provincial government along Turkey’s border with Syria.

The Hatay Governor's Office said Thursday that 80 of the 507 injured Aleppan civilians succumbed to their wounds despite all efforts, while 186 others were transferred to hospitals in other provinces.

Late last month Syrian opposition forces and the regime reached a cease-fire deal, brokered by Turkey and Russia, to evacuate civilians from eastern Aleppo to safe areas in opposition-held Idlib.

So far, some 44,000 people have been evacuated from the area, according to Turkish authorities.

Turkish relief foundations and humanitarian organizations are continuing to provide aid to evacuees in Idlib, northwestern Syria.
