EDIRNE, Turkey (AA) - Turkish security forces rounded up 316 undocumented migrants in the northwestern province of Edirne bordering Greece and Bulgaria, a security source said Thursday.
The migrants were held for attempting to reach Europe using illegal routes in Bosnakoy, Kemalkoy and Orhaniye villages and Meric, and Ipsala districts, said the source who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media.
Most of the migrants were from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Syria and Afghanistan.
Turkey has been a main route for refugees trying to cross into Europe, especially since the beginning of the civil war in Syria.
