KARACHI, Pakistan (AA) - A Pakistani soldier was killed on Tuesday and another was injured in what the military alleged was an attack from across the country's border with Iran.

Terrorists, according to a statement from the army, targeted a border post from Iranian territory with small arms in the Chukab area of the southwestern Balochistan province, which borders neighboring Iran

"Due to fire, Sepoy Maqbool Shah of Frontier Corps embraced shahadat (martyrdom), while another soldier was injured," the statement said, adding that Iranian authorities had been informed of the incident.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The attack occurred following the reopening of the border between the two countries for bilateral trade on Sept. 20 after a four-month closure.
