ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AA) - Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing before latter’s expected visit to India, local media reported.

According to state-run Radio Pakistan, Khan along with his senior Cabinet members met the Chinese president and discussed bilateral and regional matters of mutual interest.

During the meeting, Khan thanked Xi over his country’s stand on Jammu and Kashmir issue.

On Monday, Khan arrived in Beijing along with a high level delegation ahead of Chinese president’s expected tour to India and Nepal.

"China has never asked anything for its support against our national interest and helped us without any conditionality," Khan said, adding Beijing has supported Pakistan in all difficult times.

The Chinese president also lauded Khan for speaking about China-Pakistan relations at the UN General Assembly session last month in New York.

He said both China and Pakistan enjoyed close friendly relations and cooperated each other in different fields.

Pakistan’s army chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa and other key military officials were also present in the meeting.

Earlier in a statement, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Khan apprised the Chinese leadership about the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Pakistan shared its assessment and feedback from the Indian occupied Kashmir with the Chinese leadership,” Qureshi said.
