Palestinian martyred in new West Bank clashes
Dozens others have also been injured after Israeli forces use live ammunition; 6 Palestinians said to be critical

NABLUS, Palestine (AA) - A young Palestinian man has been martyred during clashes with Israeli forces in occupied West Bank late Tuesday, according to Palestinian Health Ministry.

In a statement, the Health Ministry said Khalid Waleed al-Tayeh was martyred after he was shot in the chest during the clashes with Israeli forces in northern West bank city of Nablus.

A total of 37 Palestinians were also injured by live ammunition fire; six of the injured are in critical condition, the ministry said.

“Eight others suffered from suffocation due to heavy tear gas fired at them by the Israeli forces,” it added.

Israeli forces earlier on Tuesday stormed Nablus, provoking Palestinian youths to take to the streets.

Palestinian territories have remained dogged by tension since U.S. President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital last December. The U.S. move drew condemnation from across the region and sparked angry protests in the Palestinian territories -- and multiple clashes with Israeli troops -- that have so far left at least 24 Palestinians dead.
