Pegasus Airlines to resume int'l flights on Saturday

Turkey's low-cost carrier to fly to Germany first, with other European destinations following it gradually

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's low-cost Pegasus Airlines will resume international flights on Saturday, the company announced on Friday.

Pegasus said in a statement that it will operate the first flight to Germany following the temporary suspension of flights as part of the restrictions to combat COVID-19.

Pegasus will be gradually restoring flights between Turkey and several European destinations from June 15.

The company will fly to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, England, the Netherlands, France, and Belgium in the first phase.

The schedule will gradually grow in the next phase, subject to the approvals of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in Turkey.

The low-cost carrier restarted its domestic flights on June 1 after halting flights on March 28.

Entering into aviation sector in 1990, Pegasus Airlines became the leader low-cost carrier in the country after it was sold to Turkey's Esas Holding in 2005.

With a fleet of 81 aircraft, Pegasus Airlines flies to 105 destinations -- 33 domestic and 72 international -- in 41 countries.
