Peru’s Ambassador to Ankara says people of Peru, Turkey have similar friendly attitude toward foreigners

By Sinan Dogan

ANKARA (AA) - Peru’s Ambassador to Ankara on Friday praised Turks for their hospitality and friendliness and said Peruvians and Turks were alike when hosting foreigners.

Campana Boluarte told Anadolu Agency the people of Turkey and Peru shared many similarities, including, their sense of life, how “friendly” they are toward foreign people and how they enjoy hosting them.

Both countries had a rich and strong cultural heritage, he said, and added that Turkey was located on wonderful geography decorated with many high-quality beaches.

Boluarte, who has resided in the Turkish capital for about a year, also commented on political relations between Turkey and Peru.

Bilateral ties between the two nations date back to the 1950s and he said a visa exemption agreement boosted ties and was based on intimacy and friendliness.

According to Boluarte, trade volume skyrocketed since Peru and Turkey established embassies in each other’s capitals -- now at $300 million.

He said Turkish companies slowly and steadily started investing in Peru, especially in construction, architecture, and weaving.

On the other hand, Peru exports agricultural products, especially quinoa and raw materials.
