Philippine pres. says death to son if guilty of drugs

By Roy Ramos ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines (AA) –President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said he ordered the police to kill any of his children if proven that they were involved in illegal drugs crimes. Duterte’s remarks were made during his speech to outstanding government workers at the presidential office. He responded to opposition Senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s allegations that his son – Southern Philippines Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte is a member of a drug triad which operates in different countries. “I have ordered the police that if any of my children is into drugs, kill him, so people cannot say anything,” said Duterte. “I told Pulong,” Duterte added, referring to his son. “My orders are to kill you if you are caught and I will protect the police who will kill you if allegations are proven”. Paolo Duterte was also accused of involvement in smuggling, which he denied. The president has repeatedly made other threats, such as he would resign if accusations against his children were proven true.
