ANKARA (AA) - Four soldiers were injured when an improvised explosive device laid by PKK terrorists was detonated in eastern Agri province as a military vehicle was passing by, the Turkish military said Wednesday.
Turkish General Staff said that one soldier was heavily injured in the attack targeting the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade in Dogubeyazit district, and all four soldiers had been taken to hospital.
In a separate incident in southeastern Hakkari province, one PKK terrorist was killed by security forces, a governor's statement said.
The terrorist was trying to lay an improvised explosive device along the road near Karatas-Uzumlu area in Cukurca district, the statement said, adding the bomb had been defused.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.
Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of some 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including a number of women and children.
