PKK kidnaps 4 people in SE Turkey

HAKKARI, Turkey (AA) - PKK terrorists kidnapped four people, including two civilians, in southeastern Turkey's Hakkari province on Wednesday, officials said.

Hakkari Governor Cuneyit Orhan Toprak confirmed the terrorist group intercepted a civilian vehicle near Doganli village in Cukurca district of the province.

They abducted two sergeants and two civilians, the governor said.

An air-supported operation started in the region to capture PKK terrorists.

The district has been a main scene for numerous anti-terror operations against the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- which resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July last year.

Since then, PKK terrorist attacks martyred more than 600 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 PKK terrorists were killed in army operations.
