ANKARA (AA) - A PKK terrorist was killed Monday by Turkish security forces in a clash in the Adakli district of the Bingol province, said the military.
In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said Tuesday that security forces also seized a Kalashnikov rifle, four grenades and a telescope during the same operation.
In the Cukurca district of Hakkari province, three hand-made explosives were defused by the security forces during a traffic control, the statement said.
In addition, a terrorist, who escaped from PKK camps in northern Iraq, reportedly surrendered to security forces in Cukurca - as well as five others in the Silopi district of Sirnak province - the military added.
The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
Since then, around 500 security personnel, including troops, police officers, and village guards, have been martyred, and over 5,000 PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
